Man of Your Word (feat. Chandler Moore and KJ Scriven)

by Maverick City Music.

How are you holding up? If I am completely honest, this week has been a bit difficult for no particular reason other than that I am TIRED. I decided to take a mental health day next week and I am hoping it helps lift my mood.

One thing that can always get me in a good mood is good music, but more importantly, music that speaks to my soul. I have noticed that what I listen to or watch or whoever I am around influences my mood. Sometimes I cannot control who I am around, but I can definitely control what I watch and listen to, so I am very intentional about the music I listen to nowadays.

A group that I have been enjoying is Maverick City Music. I believe I came across the group during one of my long Instagram browses sometime last year, and I have been hooked ever since. They just released a new album in the last month (released on iTunes last week). I have been listening to this album daily for the last couple of weeks and I love it. If you haven’t heard of them and never listened to a song, you should. They have three albums that I know of: Maverick City Vol.1, Maverick City, Vol. 2 and the most recent one being Maverick City Vol. 3 Part I (I can’t wait for part II).

On to the song of the month, Man of Your Word.

This song reminds me that I can trust God despite what things look like. He has never failed me and will not start now. He is a Man of His word and I can trust and believe that whatever He has said will come to pass. This reminds me of something I read years ago in Rick Warren’s book “What on Earth Am I Here For?” which states, “Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the light,” which was a quote from V. Raymond Edman. Especially in these difficult times, it is a nice reminder that God doesn’t change. Yes, our circumstances may change, but If God has said and confirmed something, it remains true despite what things look like in the physical. Remember that!

I pray this gives you some hope this week.

Below, you will find some of my favorite lyrics of the song, and also don’t forget to watch the YouTube video at the top of this post. Enjoy!

All things are possible
When we believe
Old chains are breakable
When we receive
Yahweh
You keep Your promises

If You said it, we believe it
If You said it, hey!
If You said it, we believe it
If You said it, we believe it
‘Cause You’re a man of Your word
If You said it, we believe it
If You said it, we believe it
You’re a man of Your word

We have this confidence
You’ll finish what You started
God, You have never failed
You won’t start with me
You’re present in every step
Patient in every heartache
God, You have never failed
You won’t start with me

I am who You say I am (If You said it, we believe it)
I am who You say I am (If You said it, we believe it)
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am (You’re a son, you’re a daughter)
I am who You say I am (Said You’re never forsaken)
I am who You say I am (You’re the beloved of God)
I am who You say I am (I am who You say I am)
I am who You say I am (I am who You say I am)
I am who You say I am (I am chosen by [?])
I am who You say I am

If You said it, we believe it
If You said it, we believe it
‘Cause You’re a man of Your word
If You said it, we believe it
If You said it, we believe it
‘Cause You’re a man of Your word

Your Word is written in stone
It’s a thing we can always count on
You honor Your word
You’ll never have to repent
‘Cause You’ll never go against what You say

I am (I am who You say I am)
And I am what I am (I am who You say I am)
‘Cause the Great I Am speaks over me (I am who You say I am)

Till next time.

Love always,

Shayo
